About

Nathaniel Peck is a photographer and explorer with an intense love for the mountains of Appalachia. Growing up on a small, isolated farm surrounded by a seemingly endless forest, he developed a passion for nature early in life. Most of his time as a child was spent running around the woods, following the footsteps of the local wildlife and learning as much about the landscape as he could. Nathaniel started taking a camera along on his journeys and quickly fell in love with the art of photography. Now, his mission is to use his camera to help grow appreciation and advocate for the protection of nature everywhere, but especially for his home mountains, the Appalachians.

Nathaniel specializes in seeking out and photographing wild places and the creatures that live there. Sweeping landscapes, wild animals and their behaviors, and vast cave systems are the main subjects in his photography. Most of Nathaniel's work currently focuses on the Allegheny Highlands region of West Virginia and Maryland, where high elevations and rugged terrain create unique and fascinating ecosystems. Despite the stunning beauty of the area, new developments are continually threatening the wild character of the Alleghenies. He hopes his photography can inspire people to protect these stunning mountains before it's too late.

Nathaniel’s images have been exhibited in various galleries and featured by outlets including CNN, The Atlantic, Highland Outdoors, The Guardian, and Bird Photographer of the Year.
